Title Moonshining
Description Newspaper photo. Caption below the picture reads: "Moonshiners didn't fare too well at the hands of area law enforcement officers in bygone days, either, as Robert Watson of Toast shows in this latest reproduction of a photograph taken many years ago. Sheriff Ulysses Belton and his deputies had just returned from raiding a still and had brought the proof back with them when an early Mount Airy photographer snapped this picture outside the Sheriff's Office. According to Watson, the Sheriff's Department was then located upstairs beside A. G. Bowman's Store, which stood on North Main Street in McLellan's present site. A familiar face in the ranks of the law profession is that of Millard F. (Big Pat) Patterson (standing to the right beside the still), and (left) Wade C. Moody, prominent local mortician."
