Denny School - Denny School, a one-room building located near Pilot Mountain on SR 2047. It was built by Joel Denny after the Civil War because there were no public schools available to his grandchildren or other neighborhood children. His son, Bird Denny, did the actual construction, and it is one of the last one-room schools still standing in the county.
